Summer Grilling Ideas – Social Distancing Style

Nothing says summer more than a backyard barbecue. Firing up a grill or smoker with protein, veggies, spices and seasonings is only sweeter when combined with friends, family and neighbors gathered together.

Much of that can’t happen this year, due to COVID-19. But it doesn’t mean you can’t still cook up fun for your family, or even a neighbor on the other side of the fence.

We’d like to share a few tips from two of our favorite “grillmasters,” Grant and Austin, who know how to cook a mean meal using their respective techniques – and practice social distancing at the same time.

On the Smoker

  • When cooking ribs, use apple juice to add sweetness to your spices.
  • Portion ribs into foil packs for easy sharing.
  • Fill your smoker up with extra meat like a pork tenderloin. You’ll have leftovers for the family – or some to share with others in the neighborhood.

On the Grill

  • Grill your protein and veggies for easy, one-station meal prep.
  • Add some variety to your protein with bratwurst.
  • Wrap veggies, Hillshire Farm Polska Kielbasa, butter and seasoning in aluminum foil, then grill for the perfect packet meal.

But here’s the best summer grilling recipe of all: Add a little creativity, a lot of social distance and enjoy a backyard BBQ to remember!
