Tyson Team Delivers Food to Families Impacted by COVID-19

In times of uncertainty, food on a family’s table means they have one less thing to worry about. Through various efforts, Tyson Foods volunteer teams and business resource groups (BRGs) have helped ensure families impacted by COVID-19 have what they need to care for themselves and those they love.

One such effort involves our Veterans BRG, which is partnering with Northwest Arkansas organizations and medical groups to deliver food to COVID-positive households. The deliveries on July 18 went to more than two dozen households in the Springdale area.

“The VBRG was thrilled to partner with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, the Northwest Arkansas Food Bank, and Ozark Regional Transit by sorting, packing, and delivering food to local households who are COVID positive and can’t go out and grocery shop,” said Veterans BRG Member Erin VanLanduit. “We had a great turnout with 22 Veterans BRG team members and families.” 

Food boxes packed for these families include shelf-stable items, produce, dairy, and protein. Delivering it to their homes helps ensure they don’t have to grocery shop and risk exposing others in the community to the virus. These coordinated food deliveries are occurring over the course of four dates in July and August.

“It’s always a pleasure volunteering with the Food Bank, and we were happy to establish new partnerships with Ozark Regional Transit and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences,” VanLanduit said.
